Dr. Barger joined LifeGen Technologies in 2005 after completing an NIH Postdoctoral Traineeship with Dr. Richard Weindruch at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he investigated the bioactivity of adipose tissue in calorie-restricted mice and rhesus monkeys. He received his Ph.D. in 2002 from the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he investigated the molecular basis of metabolic regulation in hibernating arctic ground squirrels.
Dr. Barger manages all aspects of contract research for LifeGen's eight national and international clients in the field of nutrigenomics. He has also co-developed LifeGen's proprietary gene expression database; this web-accessible resource available to clients on a subscription basis. Dr. Barger's efforts as Project Manager have resulted in several peer-reviewed publications as well as coverage in major news media outlets.
